A Union for Laboratory Professionals

Medical/Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Technologists, Microbiologists, Phlebotomists, Technicians, Assistants, and other Laboratory staff are among those hit the hardest by outbreaks of infectious diseases. While COVID-19 brought these struggles into the headlines in an unprecedented way, Laboratory Professionals have been experiencing short staffing, inadequate equipment, unsafe conditions, and uncompetitive compensation for years.

Unfortunately, the complex work that Laboratory Professionals perform at the bench is not well understood or widely appreciated. This contributes to underinvestment in our professions, which harms employee recruitment and retention, and ultimately has a ripple effect on public health infrastructure. Our capacity to identify and respond to the next regional outbreak, global pandemic, and even bioterrorism threats, depends on investment in Laboratories and the professionals who work in them.
